Project Goal

The main goal of the project is to increase the profits of fishermen by commercializing the results of the research-implementation project (accomplished by “first production”) implemented by R&D institutions and enterprises. The subject of the project is the construction of the Knowledge Transfer Platform – FindFISH based on in-situ research, environmental data and quantitative and qualitative fishing data as well as numerical modelling of hydrodynamic, physicochemical and biological parameters of the Gulf of Gdansk. The FindFISH platform is a database containing historical data and current, online forecasts on the marine environment and living resources of the Gulf of Gdansk. It was created by means of knowledge transfer between two groups of users: scientists and fishermen. The FindFISH platform provides ongoing forecasts about the conditions of the marine environment in the Gulf of Gdańsk. It uses an operational model. The model is created based on in situ data obtained during fishing trips and transferred by fishermen as well as numerical data provided by scientists. The forecasts will show under what hydrological conditions industrial fisheries for four species - herring, sprat, cod, and flounder - should be the most abundant in resources.

FindFISH is a service built for ZRM-OP that will make it available to a wide range of interested parties.
